Try Before You Buy orders integrate with your existing store's operations for fulfillment, delivery, and returns. The Blackcart app is designed to align with your store's preexisting setup - ensuring that all payments, order statuses, refunds, and returns are managed directly within your Shopify environment.
Blackcart Order Statuses
All payments are captured and applied via Shopify, including refunds. Blackcart looks at the fulfillment status within Shopify to detect when an order is delivered, which triggers a notification to inform customers that their TBYB trial period has begun. If there is a delay in expected delivery status Blackcart will notify the merchant directly. If there is no update to the delivery status within an expected timeframe Blackcart will consider the trial period as started.
There are four main signifiers that differentiate a Blackcart order from a normal order:
- The order will have an initial payment status of "partially paid" which will quickly move to "authorized"
- The order will have a fulfillment status of "on hold" until the above payment status moves to authorized at which point the fulfillment status will updated to be "unfulfilled"
- A tag will be applied to the order labeled "blackcart"
- When you click inside of an order you will see the "Paid" amount and directly under the "Balance" amount which includes the outstanding balance and the date (trial expiry date) it needs to be paid by

Blackcart Returns
Blackcart believes in making the return process as seamless as possible, ensuring a hassle-free experience for both you and your customers. Our returns flow aligns with the processes you already have in place on your Shopify store, streamlining the management of returns and exchanges.
Setting Up Returns Configurations
When you install the Blackcart app and configure your returns settings, you'll be prompted to input two crucial pieces of information:
- Returns Portal: This is your store's dedicated returns portal, where customers can initiate return requests and manage their return shipments.
- Customer Support Contact: Provide your store's customer support contact details, so customers can reach out for assistance regarding their returns if needed.
Trial Period Returns and Communication
After a TBYB order is placed through Blackcart, we initiate a series of emails to guide customers through their trial period. These emails include information and instructions relevant to their trial, including your returns configurations. This ensures that customers have easy access to the returns process at any point during their TBYB trial.
